Warehouse WiFi Reliability Checklist
Checklist for validating WiFi coverage, roaming, and reliability in warehouse environments.
Warehouse WiFi Reliability Checklist
Use this checklist to validate WiFi coverage and roaming performance in warehouse environments.
Coverage and Interference
- Conduct site survey with heat mapping in all aisles and zones
- Identify dead zones and areas with signal below -67 dBm
- Check for interference from metal racking and RF reflections
- Verify coverage in dock areas and outdoor yard zones
- Test signal strength at typical scanner operating heights
Roaming Configuration
- Set roaming thresholds for fast handoffs (typically -70 dBm)
- Configure minimum RSSI and SNR values
- Enable fast roaming protocols (802.11r/k/v)
- Test handoff performance with moving scanners
- Verify no sticky client issues causing connection drops
Access Point Placement
- Position APs to account for metal obstruction
- Avoid placing APs directly on metal surfaces
- Ensure overlapping coverage for seamless roaming
- Document AP locations and coverage maps
- Plan for future expansion and density increases
Monitoring and Maintenance
- Deploy monitoring for AP health and client connections
- Set alerts for high channel utilization or interference
- Schedule regular site surveys after layout changes
- Document baseline performance metrics
- Create escalation runbooks for connectivity issues
